Almost 2 years ago I knew something was wrong with me but was too much of an alcoholic too admit it. What no one knows is the crap I put my wife through, I became self-centered and would often show up at the bmx track hung over. I would “celebrate” a day of racing with a 12 pack. Well that one day the stroke hit me, September 27th 2009 I was in for change. Yes most of you know what happened but what you do not know is I was still very self-centered and an a hole. I yelled at my family because they had not been to house to visit me in months, I gave my wife a hard time. But when the doctor came in and said there was a tumor on my head my heart sank, and at that moment I thought I was going to die. Over the next few days I sat and thought about the a hole I had become and prayed for another chance. God gave it to me, but I still had to suffer some more.
I had to wear a depends diaper for 6 weeks due to colitis. I had lost so much weight I looked like I was on crack. But during that time I realized that if I can survive this I could do anything. So I built 2 bikes with one hand (the stroke weakened my left side) and on this day I was back to doing this

My doctor almost flipped when I showed him that. He wanted me to take a year or two off from BMX. Now almost 2 years later I am on the verge of fulfilling my self-imposed mission of making it to the NBL Grands. I am sad because it is the last one, but at the same time I along with others will be a part of BMX history.
I have told my tale before but I tell it now because I am grateful to all the friends and family that have made the last 2 years possible and my lovely wife who this season has traveld up and down the north east with me. There are way too many people to thank, SO I will simply say god bless all the ones that have stood by my side and for the so called haters, I thank you as well. Your efforts to keep me down made me even stronger.
I AM NOT POSTING THIS FOR PITY, IF SOMEONE READS THIS AND IS INSPIRED THEN MY MISSION IS COMPLETE
